How to set up CuteFTP

Once you’ve downloaded and installed CuteFTP, launch the program.

Navigate to File > Connect > Connect menu:

It’s possible to use the Connect icon on the tool bar:

The recommended settings are as follows:

Label: any name for this connection
Host: the server your account is hosted on
Username: your cPanel username
Password: your cPanel password
Login Method: Normal

Once the basic settings are configured, switch to Type tab. Make sure that:

1. For SFTP connection (recommended):

Protocol type: SFTP using SSH2 (Secure Shell)
Port: 21098

2. For an alternative FTP connection:
Protocol type: FTP (standard File Transfer Protocol)
Port: 21

Once done, click on Connect.
